OGDENSBURG — Longtime high school and Clarkson University hockey radio announcer Con Elliott died Thursday night in Ogdensburg.
Elliott, a Potsdam native, had been living in at the United Helpers Nursing Home in Ogdensburg in the past year .
He graduated from Potsdam High School in 1947 and is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The press box at the Potsdam High School turf field is also named for him.
Elliott was Clarkson’s hockey play-by-play announcer from 1955-87 and he also synonymous with area high school sports broadcasting for five decades. After his retirement he was a regular attendee at local high school games and went to nearly every Clarkson home hockey game up until the past few seasons.
His love for the North Country and its young people knew no bounds and it was returned in like manner.
