Robert C. McIntyre, 82, of Dexter, passed away on August 27, 2014 at the Hospice Home of Jefferson County in Watertown.
He was born on July 2, 1932 in Watertown, a son of Ward and Mary (Grimes) McIntyre.
He married Rosalyn Sweet on December 26, 1951 at St. Patrick Church in Watertown.
He entered the Air Force in 1951 where he did a tour of duty with the 7557 Supply Squadron Depot at Sealand RAF Station in England. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
He worked in construction and as a truck driver for most of his adult life until he retired from the Watertown Concrete in 1994. He later came back out of retirement to work for the Town of Brownville at the Dexter Cemetery.
He was a big movie buff who enjoyed all the great old-time movies. He also enjoyed the game of baseball especially his NY Yankees. He also loved teaching the game of baseball to the local youth and spent over 30 years involved with the American Little League in Watertown. Through the years, he was coach, manager, game announcer, player agent, vice president, and president.
Among his survivors are his wife of 63 years, Rosalyn, Dexter; his three sons, Robert D., Watertown, Randy (Debra), Glen Park, and Ricky (Mary Beth), Dexter; a sister, Flossie Greer, Rochester, NH; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.
Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
There will be no calling hours.
There will be a private burial service for family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in his memory to Hospice of Jefferson County or a charity of your choice.
