ALEXANDRIA BAY — Coast Guard crews based in the village rescued multiple people during incidents Friday and Saturday.
Crews on Friday pulled a stranded swimmer from the St. Lawrence River and brought him to the Canadian shoreline. The unidentified swimmer’s immigration status was confirmed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Crews also aided four people who were found clinging to their watercraft that had capsized on the river.
The agency said none of the rescued people required medical treatment.
The downed boat was towed by a good Samaritan to the Edgewood Marina.
