CLAYTON — Following an investigation, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office charged Tyler R. Farmer, 22, with second-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny after he was allegedly involved in a residential burglary July 21 in the village.

Stolen items at the residence included five long guns, jewelry and medications. The location of the residence was not disclosed by deputies, who are conducting an ongoing investigation.

Deputies said their investigation linked two cases involving theft to the suspect. He possessed stolen items from the burglary, along with a stolen canoe from a separate village property, they said. He was also charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of fifth-degree possession of stolen property and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned in Clayton Village Court and remanded to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. Deputies were assisted by village police, state police, Clayton Fire Department and Horizon Aerial Media Services, Glen Park.
