Honored

Massena

Honored: Michele Bombard, teacher at Trinity Catholic School, Massena, was named the 2014 Outstanding Catholic School Teacher for the Diocese of Ogdensburg, and honored at a June 20 luncheon. Ms. Bombard began her teaching career in 1987 and has taught at Trinity for 28 years. She teaches fifth and sixth grade ELA and social studies. In previous years, she has taught math, ELA, social studies and religion in a self-contained fifth grade classroom. Since 2012, she has served as assistant principal for the school. Ms. Bombard graduated from SUNY Potsdam with a bachelor’s degree in history/education and received a master’s degree in elementary education and is permanently certified in N-6 elementary education with a social studies extension for grades seven to nine.

Fort Drum

Felix Garcia, a recent graduate of Indian River Central School, Philadelphia, will attend the University of Florida, Gainesville. Interested in pursuing sports medicine, he was named Indian River’s 2014 Athlete of the Year.

Scholarships: WinnCompanies, property management and maintenance services firm for Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes, recently awarded $2,000 in scholarships to two distinguished residents.

Elizabeth Cotter, a recent graduate of Indian River Central School, will attend Indiana Universty-Purdue University Indianapolis and major in sports journalism.

Scholarships: Alex V. Hammond, Madrid-Waddington Central School, Madrid, recently received a $500 2014 Emerge NNY Scholarship from the Greater Watertown Jaycees.
