DENMARK — Leading the Carlowden Country Club six-man team following Carlowden Club Championship and six-person team qualifier July 12 and 13 will be Derek O’Neil, Logan Spaulding, Todd Slate, Justin Taylor, Zack Shambo, and Sam Millich, with Todd LaRock and Paul Cesario as alternates.
In the championship match, O’Neil shot 72 and 73, carding 145 over two days. Spaulding shot 152; Slate carded 153; Taylor, 156; Shambo, 158; Millich, 160; LaRock, 162; Cesario, 166. Senior champion in the tournament was Warren Kennehan, who carded 158. Super senior champion was David O’Brien, carding 168.
The six-man tournament will be hosted at St. Lawrence University Golf Course Aug. 1 and 2 where men will compete against teams from local golf clubs.
Competing for the Carlowden six-ladies team will be Lou Cesario, Elaine Avallone, Evie Rivers and Sandra Brown. The rest of the team will be fielded by other female club members according to handicap. In the team qualifier, Brown shot 99 and 96 over a two-day no handicap match, carding 195 and being named Carlowden’s 2014 First Lady. Rivers shot 198 with Avallone and Cesario carding 212. The tournament will be held Aug. 17 at Carlowden where ladies will compete against teams from local golf clubs.
In the junior competition at Carlowden, Michael Nevills won, shooting 90 and 95 over two days for a total of 185. Nicholas O’Conner totaled 207.
