Norma R. Burns, 94, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Lewis County General Hospital. She was born on November 9, 1919 at Rector in Montague, New York daughter of William and Julia McDonald.

She graduated from the Augustinian Academy in Carthage. She later graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

Worked at St Francis Hospital in Miami, Florida and then at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City for over 25 years.

She married Phillip Gilmer, he died in 2003.

She is survived by her two sisters Thelma and Wanda Burns of Carthage.

Norma was a member of St. James Church in Carthage.

She is predeceased by her husband Philip P. Gilmer and her sisters Mary, Naomi, and Frances McMillian Burns.

The services will be held privately by the family in Carthage, burial will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Princeton Cemetery in New Jersey.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage NY 13619.
