EDWARDSVILLE - The Gouverneur tandem of Bill Redmond and Albert Redmond of Gouverneur swept honors in the Northern New York Bassmasters Team Trail Tournament on Black Lake on Saturday.
A great field of 62 anglers enjoyed gorgoeus weather conditions and exceptional fishing on the big lake.
The Redmond and Redmond team outdistanced the field with a 20.64-pound bag anchored by a 5.16 largemouth bass which earned Lunker honors.
The first place finish vaulted the Redmond-Redmond team into the top 10 of the club’s season points standings.
Second place in Saturday’s tournament went to Jason and Jamie Broadbent of Heuvelton and Fulton at 15.33 and Chris and Chuck Roach of Heuvelton placed third at 15.19 pounds.
Rounding out the top six were current season points leaders Tyler Capella and Carrie Capella of Canton 15.01 pounds, Michael Emlaw and Ashley Travers of Norfolk 14.77 pounds and Brad and Robert Paradis of Ogdensburg 14.41 pounds.
The Capella-Capella team leads the chase for the 2014 Angler of the Year Award with 596 points followed by Garlock-Marceau and Nichols-Nichols at 584. Rounding out the top 10 are: Ohern-Marcum 580, O’Grady-Garrabrant 575, Paradis-Paradis 570, Roach-Roach 570, Palmer-LaClair 568, Kirkbride-Moore 564 and Redmond-Redmond 560.
The next team trail tournament will be held on the St. Lawrence River out of Waddington on July 26.
