HOPKINTON — State police on Sunday charged Dean M. Lamphere, 43, of 2194 Route 11B, with criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt, both class A misdemeanors.

Troopers said at about 10:14 a.m. they received numerous 911 calls reporting an alleged verbal argument between Mr. Lamphere and a family member. When troopers arrived to the residence they allege that Mr. Lamphere had burned the clothes belonging to another family member.

Mr. Lamphere violated a County Family Court order of protection by burning the family member’s clothes, troopers said. A new no-contact order of protection in favor of the person whose clothing he burned was issued by Family Court.

Mr. Lamphere was arraigned in the Hopkinton Town Court and sent St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
