OGDENSBURG — Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Diabetes Self-Management Program is sponsoring a free Diabetes Education Day on Aug. 5. The day will include information on meal planning, medications, exercise, complications and how to make lifestyle modifications. Speakers are Karen Cole, diabetes educator, Alison Felt, dietitian, Dr. Michael Seidman and Danny Sekhon, pharmacist.
The day will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and a free breakfast. A catered lunch will be served at noon. The program, which will be held in the Medical Center’s Hess Auditorium on Mansion Avenue, will end at 3:30 p.m.
Diabetes can lead to serious complications such as blindness, kidney damage, cardiovascular disease and lower-limb amputations.
