POTSDAM — The Town Council voted Tuesday night to revise the use policy for its community kitchen and boardroom to include use by home processors and canners, as well as non-residents.
After reviewing policies in the village of Norwood, Town Clerk Cindy L. Goliber and Town Supervisor Marie C. Regan drafted a revised policy to allow home processors to use the community kitchen, an option unavailable last year.
Mrs. Regan said the new charges associated with using the facility will be comparable to a similar facility in Norwood. “Our prices are either the same or a little bit lower than Norwood’s,” she said.
Most fees are unchanged. The hourly rates for home processors will begin at $20 per hour and are subject to change at the board’s discretion. The fee for similar users who are non-residents will begin at $25 per hour. A fee of $35 was added for groups using the kitchen for a fundraiser.
Full use of the kitchen pertains only to on-site events, not home processor use. This would include events held by private groups, whether or not their events are open to the public. The base fee is $75 for those uses.
