ELLISBURG — The Black Pond Wildlife Management Area was reopened Monday afternoon after more than a dozen cars sustained flat tires from drill bits on the access road on Saturday.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation closed the area to visitors Sunday after learning that some 18 cars were damaged by the prank.

DEC law enforcement officials have been looking into leads over the past couple of days to find the perpetrator.

Using a metal detector, DEC workers found a couple of drill bits pounded into the road.
