Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence County school districts will receive $51,000 in special funding to help support local high school marching bands, according to state Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton.
Included in the funding is $5,000 for Pulaski High School; aid which helped it make a trip to represent New York state in the National Fourth of July Parade in Washington D.C. possible. Students — who spent a great deal of time recently fundraising for the trip — departed Thursday morning for the event, which will take place on Friday, a news release from Sen. Ritchie’s office said.
In Jefferson County, General Brown Central School District will receive $5,000. The following St. Lawrence County school districts will each receive $4,000: Heuvelton Central, Edwards-Knox Central, Lisbon Central, Hermon-DeKalb Central, Madrid-Waddington Central, Morristown Central, Canton Central, Massena Central and Gouverneur Central.
