FOWLER — A midnight blaze in Fowler Wednesday destroyed a large storage barn that housed several vehicles.
The Gouverneur Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 1491 County Route 22 property of Harry and Sid Harmer at 12:07 a.m. for the report of a fire in a barn that had seven vehicles in it.
No injuries were reported, according to a St. Lawrence County fire investigator report. Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad also responded to the scene. The property was considered a total loss and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, investigators said. It is unknown whether the property was insured.
Investigators stated in their report that “due to quick actions, firefighters were able to save a second large structure and two nearby occupied mobile homes.”
Edwards, Harrisville and Richville volunteer fire departments also assisted on the scene. Fire departments returned to service at 2:48 a.m.
