MASSENA - A 26-year-old Massena woman was jailed with bail set at $3,000 cash Tuesday afternoon after being picked up om a bench warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of her probationary sentence.

Amanda L. Kerr of 63 Oliver Road, Massena, had been sentenced to probation for three years in February for a misdemeanor criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument conviction.

Village police had previously picked up Kerr on a bench warrant on April 23 after probation officials informed the court that since being sentenced Kerr had admitted using suboxone without a prescription and telling her mother that she needed $35 per week to pay for drug testing at the probation office and using that money to purchase suboxone. She also reportedly failed to report to her probation officer as directed and failed to comply with an order to undergo an alcohol and substance abuse evaluation. She had been released from custody in early May after bail was posting $1,500 bail.

Probation officials, in a recent uniform court report, said Kerr had been admitted into an in-patient substance abuse treatment program on May 9 but she had been discharged from that program five days later for allegedly violating the facility’s fraternization policy with members of the opposite sex. The report also said Kerr had tested positive for morphine, a derivative of heroin, on May 30.

St. Lawrence County Probation Officer Emily Germano told Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson at Kerr’s arraignment on the bench warrant that the Massena woman had also been a no call, no show for two appointments in recent days in an intensive Canton-Potsdam Hospital outpatient substance abuse treatment program.

Mr. Gustafson sent Kerr to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $3,000 cash.
