Buster’s holds of Hosmer’s; The Place, Howies win pair in women’s softball

Busters’ heled off the defending champions Hosmer’s 16-15 in recent Ogdensburg Mens and Women’s Softball League play in the Women’s Division. The Place and Howies each earned two wins.

Buster’s 16, Hosmer’s 15: Hosmer’s scored five runs in the seventh to fall short.

Barb Miller crushed a homerun and two singles for Buster’s while Ashley Baker lined a double and three singles. Jessica Meashaw added two doubles and two singles while Jamie Burwell and Emiily Mitchell each singled three times.

Liza LaRock belted a homerun and three singles for Hosmers/ Andrea Duvall smacked two triples and a single. Katie O’Connor lined two triples and Chelsea Bice added three singles.

The Place 12, The Pub 7: Nichole Fisher stroked two doubles and two singles and DeAndra Dublin, Jocelyn Fifield each connected for two hits to lead The Place. Amy Richardson, Dawn Merz, Sierra Dobbs and Jess McBath all added a single.

The Pub was led by Lauren Peters who tripled and singled and Mackenzie Ferguson who doubled and singled. Tara Kroeger and Kurt Massia each added 2 singles each

The Place over Ghizes: ESPN Web Gems at the hot corner by thirdbaseman Dawn Merz sparked The Place. Merz had an outstanding defensive game with a diving diving stops she also had 4 singles, MaryBeth Davis had a homerun and three singles, Nichole Fisher had a homerun, a triple and a single, Brooke Enslow and Amy Richardson each lined a double and 2 singles while Sharon Reed, Julie Backus & Shannon Tooley all added three singles each

Jordan Gaines, Gabby Durant, Breanna Vatter, Jamie Gaines and Christine Buckley all singled.

Howies 16, Buster’s 7: Katie McCarney supplied two singles, a triple and a double and Jade Vernsey lined three singles and a double to lead Howie’s. Other contributions came from Ginelle Morley (single), Shannon LaFave (two singles, double), Heather Small (two singles, double), Stacy Barr (two singles), Jackie Premo (single), Sky Sharpe (two singles, double), and Chelsea Martin (two singles).

Ashley Baker belted a homerun and Kareen Bedford added a single.

Howies 19,

Katie McCarney had a loaded bat crushing a homerun and two singles for Howies. Jade Vernsey smacked a triple and a single while Stacey Barr added two singles and a double. Other highlights were: Ginelle Morley (three singles), Jessica Denoncourt (single), Shannon LaFave (three singles), Heather Small (two singles), Nicole Renne (two singles), Jackie Premo (single) and Sky Sharpe (single).

Lauren Peters smacked a homerun and a triple while Erin MacMartin and Mackenzie Ferguson each doubled and singled.
