Local college athletics: SLU women sweep outdoor Liberty League awards

CANTON — St. Lawrence University’s women’s outdoor track and field team swept the 2014 Liberty League awards on Monday.

Senior Amy Cymerman was named the Track Athlete of the Year. Junior Divya Biswal was the Field Athlete of the Year and freshman Lisa Grohn was the Rookie of the Year.

SLU’s Kate Curran was named the Coach of the Year.

Brogan Barr has been appointed the assistant swimming coach at SUNY Potsdam, the school announced Monday. Barr will replace former Lowville standout Brittany Berrus, who spent the past two seasons as the assistant to Bears’ head coach Ken McLaughlin.

Barr was a MIAC All-Conference swimmer in 2011 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Barr was an assistant coach for the Mantas Club Swim Team in Mantako, Mont., and a head swim coach for the Choteau Lions Swim Club in Choteau, Mont.
