Engineers Training Fund seeks apprentices

CONSTANTIA — The Upstate New York Engineers Training Fund, Local 545 (also doing business as Local Union 158, District 545), will conduct a recruitment from July 7-18 for three operating engineer (heavy equipment operator) apprentices.

Applications must be completed in person, on site, at the District 545 training site, 814 County Route 23, Constantia, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday during the recruitment period. Applications will be available for 10 business days or until 35 applications have been submitted, whichever comes first.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma, attest in writing that he/she is physically able to perform the work (lifting heavy objects, working in confined spaces, operating hazardous machinery, working in extremely dusty conditions, in extremely hot, cold, or wet weather, over water, at heights, and with possible exposure to loud noises and respiratory irritants), pass a drug test, reside within St. Lawrence County, have at least one year of trade-related experience, possess a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation to and from various work sites and classes, and provide military transfer or discharge form, if applicable.
