CANTON — A St. Lawrence County grand jury has indicted a Potsdam man on multiple felony charges stemming from the theft and arson of a vehicle in July.
Kyle J. Neuroth, 24, of 33½ Pine St., was indicted for third-degree arson, third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
It is alleged that on July 25, in the town of Potsdam, Neuroth, acting in concert with Anthony P. Culver, 21, of 88 County Route 59, Potsdam, stole a 1988 BMW belonging to Larry Hazen and set fire to it.
Culver, who originally was charged with third-degree arson, pleaded guilty to a reduced count of third-degree attempted arson on Feb. 24.
He told St. Lawrence County Judge Jerome J. Richards that about 4 a.m. July 25 he and Neuroth stole a white 1988 BMW two-door sedan from a parking area at the rear of 15 Market St., Potsdam, and later set fire to the vehicle to cover up the theft.
Culver said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
Culver was sentenced April 28 to five years’ probation and ordered to pay restitution of $5,058.33 and court fines, fees and surcharges totaling $880.84.
Neuroth will be arraigned in St. Lawrence County Court at a later date.
