CANTON On June 7, the 50th annual Dairy Princess Parade will roll through Canton. To celebrate this milestone and join in the Dairy Princess festivities, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York(TAUNY) will host a Buttermilk baking recipe swap and reception, and they would like to feature your favorite buttermilk recipes.
Here is how their exchange between community members and local baking businesses will work: Everyone is invited to submit their favorite buttermilk recipe(s)sweet or savoryand any stories that go with them to TAUNY by Friday. Certified bakers from around the area will then choose one recipe from those submitted to bake and share at a reception at The TAUNY Center during the Dairy Princess Festival on June 7.
At the reception, visitors will vote on their favorites, and when the results are in, the winners will be announced, sharing the recipes, their stories, and the bakers who brought them to the table. They will also be a recipe swap at the reception, and folks will be invited to bring in copies of any buttermilk recipes they would like to share.
Details about the swap and how to participate, as a baker or a recipe provider, can be found at www.TAUNY.org or by calling 386-4289.
The delicious event will be held during the Dairy Princess Festival and is free and open to everyone. TAUNY is located at 53 Main St. and is dedicated to showcasing the folk culture and living traditions of the North Country. For more information visit www.TAUNY.org.
