OGDENSBURG The concession stand at the Dobisky Visitors Center will remain closed this summer.
We currently have no one interested in running it, city Parks and Recreation Director Matthew J. Curatolo said Friday. We had received two proposals over the winter, so we had initial interest. But they both fizzled out.
Mr. Curatolo said the city has no plans to solicit bids again for an operator this year. Before contracting with a tenant, the city would have to review business plans and hold public hearings, which could take a month or more. Mr. Curatolo said the operator then would have to procure supplies, obtain permits and hire staff, making it nearly impossible to open before the summers end.
Of course we would like to have somebody in there, but it just really didnt seem to work out this spring, he said.
The city has been leasing the space for $416 a month, Mr. Curatolo said, so the revenue loss for the season would amount only to about $1,600.
The restaurant was last operated by Trevor R. Brunet, who opted not to renew his lease with the city so he could open a restaurant at the Stonefence Resort Motel, Route 37. The restaurant has remained closed since a fire in February, but Mr. Brunet has been working to reopen it.
