CARTHAGE — The joint Utility Management Board gave its approval for Timothy N. Turck, West Carthage Department of Public Works assistant superintendent, to apply for a program through Demand Response Partners.

If the application is accepted, the water filtration plant will receive payments in exchange for reducing electricity use during times of high energy demand.

During the short periods of non-use, a generator would be used.

The board instructed Mr. Turck to look into other companies offering similar programs.

In other business, the board approved an outside-user request by Greg Millard to hook into the water system.

Approval previously had been granted by both the Carthage and West Carthage village boards.
