WATERTOWN — Route 342 in the town of Pamelia was reopened shortly before 10:30 a.m. today after a brief road closure following a two-car collision that injured two people.

An unidentified man driving a white Chrysler Sebring was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, by a LifeNet helicopter for treatment of leg and hip injuries, said Joseph M. Bova. He is second assistant chief at Northpole Fire Company and director of operations at Guilfoyle Ambulance Service. An unidentified woman driving a Ford pickup complained of head pain was taken to Samaritan Medical Center by Guilfoyle.

The man collided with the back of the truck, police said. So far, no contributing factors to the crash have been identified.

“He was trapped,” Mr. Bova said, referring to the man in the Sebring. “We had to cut him out of the car.”

State troopers said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Pamelia and Calcium fire departments also responded to the scene.

The road was closed to traffic between Route 37 and Allen Drive at 9:40 a.m. shortly after the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.

State police said the man will be issued a ticket for following too closely.
