Freda Solomon of Warren County, widow of former Republican Rep. Gerald Solomon, will be the honorary chairwoman of the Elise for Congress Womens Advisory Team.
Elise M. Stefanik is seeking the seat being given up by Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh. She will face off in the June 24 Republican primary against Matthew A. Doheny, Watertown.
In a news release issued Monday, the Stefanik campaign said the advisory group will work with the campaign to build its grassroots base of support across the 21st Congressional district, especially among female voters.
The release cited job creation, economic opportunity, common-sense health-care reform, veterans affairs and agriculture, among others, as issues of primary interest to women.
Members of the group include Connie Augsbury and Nancy Foster, St. Lawrence County; Andrea Eaton and Penny Mead, Jefferson County; Marion Reed, Lewis County; and Elaine Ellis, Patricia Littlefield, Sally Spadaro and Sandra Strader, Franklin County.
I am humbled to have these accomplished women join me in my effort to represent New Yorks 21st District, Ms. Stefanik is quoted in the release as saying. Small business owners and residents of the district are struggling under Washingtons failed policies and I am honored to join with these women to work together to bring new ideas and new leadership to Washington.
