WATERTOWN — A man using an electric chain saw fell approximately 25 feet from a ladder at a residence at 336 Bugbee Drive in the city on Tuesday morning.

At the time of the incident, he was attempting to cut a large tree limb approximately 6 inches in diameter and 20 feet long, according to neighbors.

The Watertown City Fire Department and paramedics from Guilfoyle Ambulance responded to the scene.

The man, identified as John W. Dille, suffered a gash on his head and was conscious when he was taken to Samaritan Medical Center.

He was listed in stable condition as of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The extent of his other injuries was unclear.

Firefighters removed the tree limb, which was dangling from the tree.
