HOLMES HILL A Level 2 sex offender was jailed early Tuesday after he was accused of prowling around his neighbors Holmes Hill home.
Massena-based state police charged Joseph L. Paul, 42, of 9428 Route 11, with misdemeanor fourth-degree stalking early Tuesday morning.
Troopers said they arrested him at his home after a prowler complaint at 12:05 a.m. from Diane C. Selleck. Paul was sneaking around the house, knocking on windows and hiding behind a tree, according to troopers.
He was convicted in September 2005 of third-degree rape stemming from an incident involving a 16-year-old female. A Level II classification means an offender is considered at moderate risk to commit another sex crime.
Paul was arraigned iby Stockholm Town Justice Wayne Williams and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond.
