GENEVA — Randy Staats provided five goals and three assists as the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team rallied to defeat Hobart, 15-9, in a nonconference game on Saturday afternoon at Boswell Field.

Kevin Rice added four goals and two assists, while Dylan Donahue and Billy Ward each tallied two goals and two assists for the Orange (9-3 overall).

Taylor Vanderbeek, Zach Reed and Matt Opsahl each scored two goals for the Statesmen (4-8).

JEFFERSON CC 27, MOHAWK VALLEY CC 7

Dallas Thomas set a school-record for points with seven goals and nine assists, as the Cannoneers put up a program-record in goals in a Region 3 victory over the Hawks at Dexter.

Jordan Jerome tallied eight goals and Joe Spooner netted five for Jefferson CC (5-4, 3-2).

Connor Elsenbeck and Kyle Coin each tallied two goals and an assist for Mohawk Valley CC (4-8, 1-3).

SUNYIT 13, SUNY CANTON 7

A strong first half helped SUNYIT to a win over SUNY Canton in a nonconference game at Canton.

SUNYIT (2-10) outscored the Kangaroos 6-2 in the first half.

Adam Reynolds and Tyler Serva each scored five goals with one assist for SUNYIT.

Tanner Pratt and Ryan Cardiff both scored two goals for SUNY Canton (3-8).

Jack Keenan, Garrett DiTullio and Devin Gruneisen added single goals for SUNY Canton.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

SYRACUSE 18, NOTRE DAME 10

Former Carthage standout Kailah Kempney tallied three goals and won six draw controls as the Orange clinched a share of the ACC regular-season title with a win over the Irish at South Bend, Ind.

Kayla Treanor scored four goals and Alyssa Murray netted her 200th career goal for Syracuse (15-1, 6-1).

Cortney Fortunato, Kiera McMullan and Casey Pearsall each scored twice for Notre Dame (9-7, 2-5).

JEFFERSON CC 24, NIAGARA COUNTY CC 4

Haleigh Flint (five goals, four assists) and Jenna Flath (three goals, six assists) each totaled nine points as the Cannonneers cruised to a Region III victory at General Brown.

Taylor Rosette tallied seven points, including four goals, for JCC (5-1), and Morgan O’Hearn scored four goals.

Leighann Booth chipped in three goals and two assists, and Morgan Nabywaniec tallied a goal and an assist.

Alexandra Hodgson scored two goals for the Thunderwolves (3-5).

BASEBALL

JEFFERSON CC 7-4. CORNING CC 6-2

The Cannoneers plated four runs in the sixth inning as they took the nightcap to complete a Mid-State Athletic Conference sweep of the Red Barons in Corning.

Terrence Belec and Bryant Wentworth each drove in a run in the inning for Jefferson CC (7-12, 2-0).

James Smith and Jason Hardie each plated a pair of runs in game one for the Cannoneers.

Jesse Swan registered two RBI for Corning CC (3-17, 0-2).

GOLF

JEFFERSON WINS MID-STATE TITLE

Chadd Call fired a 77 to pace Cannoneers to a first-place finish at the Mid-State Athletic Conference championships at Onondaga CC in Syracuse.

JCC shot a team total of 319 as it also finished second in the Onondaga CC Lazer Invitational behind Monroe CC.

Call and George LaBarr each earned spots on the all-conference team.
