PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Jacob A. Cook, 37, of Hogansburg with petit larceny at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday stemming from a shoplifting incident at the Hannaford supermarket in Massena.

A loss prevention coordinator at the store told state police that Cook put two of three meat packages in his pants and handed off other items to a female who could no longer be seen after walking out of view of a surveillance camera.

Cook was also wanted on a bench warrant signed Feb. 4 by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson for failing to appear on a separate petit larceny count.

He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and was ordered held on $500 cash on the warrant and $250 cash on Wednesday’s arrest.
