Danbury Whalers coach’s court date moved to April 28

WATERTOWN — The City Court case against Danbury Whalers hockey coach Philip P. Esposito Jr. was adjourned Monday until April 28.

Mr. Esposito, 43, of East Haven, Conn., was charged with two counts of harassment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly pushed a woman and her 7-year-old daughter after a Jan. 1 game against the Watertown Privateers of the Federal Hockey League. He is being represented by Watertown attorney Gary W. Miles. According to police, Mr. Esposito pushed Jennifer L. Bellis, of 1126 Holcomb St., and her daughter, causing the girl to fall to the ground.

Mr. Esposito is in his third season as head coach of the Danbury franchise.
