Lorraine man sentenced for making meth

WATERTOWN — A town of Lorraine man was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County to six months’ time served at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years’ probation for making methamphetamine at his residence.

Francis J. Conklin III, 37, was sentenced after pleading guilty March 5 to third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine and third-degree assault. He admitted that on Dec. 9 he tried to possess the materials needed to produce methamphetamine at his residence at 3358 County Route 92. He also admitted that on the same day he caused injury to an unidentified woman at his residence. Police had been called to the home for a report of a domestic dispute.

He was sentenced to a concurrent three-year term of probation on the assault conviction.

In other court activity:

Randall J. Bell III, 22, whose last known address was 614 Franklin St., pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment. He was charged March 9 with unlawfully entering the Huntington Street apartment of Cheri L. Jewett and punching her in the stomach on Aug. 7. He subsequently was sentenced to six months in the PSB on the trespass count and an additional 15 days on the harassment count. He also was ordered to pay $160 in restitution in the form of a civil judgment.

Brad J. West, 39, of 6243 Route 12E, Three Mile Bay, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree promoting prison contraband. He was charged with violating an order of protection held by Dawn M. LaClair by spitting on her March 1. He also was accused of having marijuana in his sock when he was searched at the PSB following his arrest. He is expected to be sentenced June 16 to three years’ probation.
