CANTON — Tara Basile scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the SUNY Geneseo women’s lacrosse team to an 11-7 win over St. Lawrence University in a nonconference game on Friday afternoon.

Emily Haggerty and Caroline Buonocore each scored two goals with two assists for SUNY Geneseo (9-1 overall).

Katey Hart added two goals with one assist and Lauren Corbett also scored.

Caroline Bailey, Abigail Owens, Chloe Knapp, Hannah Calvelli, Carly VanTassel, Parker Benedict and Mackenzie Collins scored for the Saints (5-6).

CONNOLLY TIES SCHOOL RECORD

William Smith sophomore attacker and former Immaculate Heart Central product Hannah Connolly tied a single-game, program-record with eight goals in the Herons’ 18-13 upset of Vassar in Geneva on Friday.

Connolly leads the team with 17 goals and has seven assists for the season.

Connolly was a member of the All-North team in 2011 and 2012.

BASEBALL

SUNY CANTON 9, D’YOUVILLE 6

A five-run second inning helped the Kangaroos (9-12) defeat D’Youville in a nonconference game in West Seneca outside of Buffalo.

Phil Tsiaras led the offense, going 3-for-5, including a double, and driving in two runs.

Jesse Barton was 2-for-4, including a home run. Winning pitcher Khalil Bratton struck out seven.

GOLF

JCC TAKES 3RD AT JAMESTOWN CC

George LaBarr and Pearce Parsons each shot 79 to finish fourth to help the Cannoneers finish third at the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by Jamestown Community College.

Jefferson CC shot a team total of 325 to finish behind Genesee CC (314) and Monroe CC (325).
