WATERTOWN — City police arrested a Philadelphia man Monday night after they said he slashed seven tires belonging to a Watertown man, causing more than $1,700 in damage.

Loren N. Woodard, 33, of 29535 Hall Road, was arrested at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building at 8:21 p.m. Monday on a charge of third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony.

Police said Mr. Woodard punctured three Hankook tires on a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and four Michelin tires on a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg belonging to Thomas J. Fossett, of 155 Bishop St., on New Year’s Day at about 11 p.m. outside Mr. Fossett’s residence.

The slashings caused $1,748.22 in damage, police said.

He was issued an appearance ticket to City Court.
