FORT DRUM — A song inspired by fallen Fort Drum soldier and Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. 1st Class Jared C. Monti was nominated for multiple awards at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

The song “I Drive Your Truck,” performed by Lee Brice, was nominated for Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

It was written by Connie Harrington and her two writing partners after hearing Sgt. Monti’s father, Paul, talk about his son on a National Public Radio program. Mr. Monti has driven his son’s Dodge Ram truck since his death, and drove it to the post for a memorial service honoring soldiers who died in 2012.

Sgt. Monti was a member of the 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

In November, the song was chosen Song of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

The song did not win Single Record of the Year or Video of the Year.

“I Drive Your Truck” is still up for Song of the Year.
