CANTON — Carly VanTassel and Chloe Knapp scored late goals to lead the St. Lawrence University women’s lacrosse team to an 11-9 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology in a Liberty League game Friday afternoon.

The Saints (3-5 overall, 1-2 division) snapped a 9-9 tie with a goal from VanTassel with 2 minutes, 15 seconds remaining. Knapp extended the lead to two goals with a score with 1:26 left.

Knapp and VanTassel both finished with three goals. Caroline Bailey scored twice and Kiera Taussiq, Michaela Maybee and Abigail Owens added single goals for SLU.

Sage Sarkis led RIT (4-4, 1-1) with five goals. Corinna Mandell added three goals.

ROCHESTER 8, CLARKSON 4

The Yellowjackets (5-2, 1-1) scored five unanswered goals in the second half to win a Liberty League game in Potsdam.

Mara Knapp and Danielle Diacovo both scored twice for Rochester. Elisabeth Watson, Jamie Wallisch, Sarah Skinner and Michelle Harrington also scored.

Ashley Flick, Abby Doyle, Christine Wright and Paige Fayette scored for Clarkson (3-6, 0-3).

BASEBALL

SUNY CANTON 4-3, BRIARCLIFFE 3-9

Chris Jones went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs to lead the Kangaroos (7-11) in the opening game of a nonconference doubleheader in Bethpage.

Kevin Hill also went 2-for-3 for SUNY Canton. Briarcliffe won game two 9-3 but no other information was provided.

HIGH SCHOOL LACROSSE

OFA 11, SALMON RIVER 4

Mackenzie Bresett and Taylor Smith each scored three goals to lead the Blue Devils past Salmon River in the Northern Athletic Conference girls opener for both teams at SUNY Canton.

Carly Garrison and Sky Hoover both scored twice for OFA and Hunter Shaver also scored for the Blue Devils. Morgan Thompson led Salmon River with two goals, and Chrissey Benedict and Kyra Thompson-Douglas scored single goals.

GENERAL BROWN 17, INDIAN RIVER 6

Bryanna Fazio finished with five goals and four assists to help power the Lions to a Frontier League victory over the Warriors (0-1) at Dexter.

Hannah Peebles provided three goals and three assists, and Cayla O’Connor connected on five goals for General Brown (2-1, 2-0).

WATERTOWN 10, SOUTH JEFFERSON 9 (3 OT)

Olivia Miles scored seven goals, including the deciding tally after regulation, to lift the Cyclones over the Spartans in a triple-overtime Frontier League game at Watertown High School.

Reigning league champion Watertown (3-0, 2-0) has won its past three games against South Jefferson all in one-goal decisions.

Stephanie Green scored three goals for South Jefferson (0-2, 0-1). Maddie Knapp’s goal for the Spartans forced a third overtime.
