SYRACUSE — Kevin Rice finished with a team-high four points as the eighth-ranked Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team outlasted Binghamton, 10-8, in a nonconference game Wednesday at the Carrier Dome.

Rice scored twice and added two assists for the Orange (6-3). Randy Staats and Dylan Donahue added two goals apiece and Derek Maltz recorded two assists for SU.

Dominic Lamolinara and Bobby Wardwell each played a half in goal for SU, and finished with identical lines of three saves and four goals allowed.

Eight different players scored for Binghamton (3-6).

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 16, ST. LAWRENCE 12

The Cardinals (8-2) outscored SLU 13-5 in the middle two quarters to pick up a nonconference victory in Plattsburgh.

Brendan Damm scored five goals to lead SUNY Plattsburgh. Robbie Ashlaw scored four goals with two assists and Tim Lawrence and Jack Felter each scored twice.

Conor Healey led the Saints (5-3) with four goals and two assists. Tommy Hovey and Charlie Jennings each tallied two goals for SLU.

BASEBALL

CLARKSON 5-1, RENSSELAER 2-4

Greg Jasek struck out nine to lead the Golden Knights’ win over Rensselaer in the opening game of a Liberty League doubleheader in Troy.

The Engineers answered with a win in game two for the split.

Clarkson (5-5 overall, 1-1 conference) took the opener after scoring three runs in the eighth inning.

Nolan Driscoll went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Dan Lenney also went 2-for-4.

Sean Conroy struck out seven for RPI (9-3, 1-1) in the second game and allowed only four hits.

John Coleman went 2-for-3 for Clarkson.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

SUNY CANTON 17, GREEN MOUNTAIN 2

Tressa Goolden tallied five goals as the Kangaroos (4-4) won a nonconference game in Castleton, Vt.

Keeley Rice scored three goals with three assists and Robyn Carroll added three goals and two assists for SUNY Canton.

Joelle Percy scored twice and set up three goals for the Kangaroos.

Brooke Knight, Hannah Christiansen, Caitlin LaVoie and Sarah Stone also scored.

Green Mountain fell 0-3.

ONONDAGA CC 17, JEFFERSON CC 6

Victoria Fusco recorded 17 saves, but the Cannoneers couldn’t keep pace with the Lazers in their season opener in Syracuse.

Jenna Battaglini, Claire Wigler and Nicole Devona scored four goals apiece for Onondaga CC (6-0).

Jenna Flath provided three goals and Leighann Booth scored twice for JCC (0-1).
