Petitions are available for several open board of education seats in St. Lawrence County.
In Potsdam, where board of education members have three-year terms, three seats are up for election. District clerk Davida M. Martin said the only candidates to pick up petitions so far are the three incumbents, Frederick C. Stone Jr., Wade A. Davis and board President Christopher C. Cowen.
Petitions, which are available in district offices, must be returned by the close of business April 21 for all districts except Parishville-Hopkinton.
The Massena Central School District will have two seats to fill, held by Leonard A. Matthews and Kevin F. Perretta. In the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District, one longtime school board member has opted not to seek re-election this year. Two other incumbents will run for three-year terms.
Two incumbents have picked up petitions for five-year terms on the St. Lawrence Central School Board of Education. Board President Robert Dow will seek his second term. Nereida Diaz-Fuentes also has picked up a petition. She was elected to the board in 2005.
Candidates interested in running for the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District board have until April 11 to submit their petitions. Two five-year seats are available.
Colton-Pierrepont Central School District Clerk Diane Ladison said two seats are available this year, both for full, four-year terms.
Petitions must contain a minimum of 25 signatures.
