An Evans Mills man died Tuesday afternoon after he became pinned under a piece of equipment at his farm.
Jesse M. Chase, 25, of 30770 County Route 46 in the town of LeRay, was attempting to check the tire air pressure on a feed mixer trailer loaded with animal feed about 1:15 p.m., state police said. While he was under the rear of the trailer, it apparently tipped backward, pinning him between the frame and the ground.
A passerby saw Mr. Chase shortly afterward and rendered assistance. He was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he later died of his injuries.
A postmortem examination by the Jefferson County medical examiner was being conducted, police said.
Indian River Ambulance, Evans Mills Ambulance and the Evans Mills Fire Department responded.
