LaLone, Riley strong on mound in JCC sweep

LARGO, Md. — Brooke LaLone and Haley Riley tossed a four-hitter and a three-hitter, respectively, as Jefferson Community College’s softball team swept Prince George’s CC, 12-4 and 9-4, on Sunday in a pair of nonleague games.

In the first game, Kate Gehrke homered, singled twice and drove in six runs for the Cannoneers (4-0) and Jane Judware (two RBI) and Lauren Labiendo (RBI) each went 3-for-4.

Paige Moriga homered and singled twice in the second game for JCC against the Owls (0-4), and Judware doubled and singled, and Jordan Miller, who drove in three runs, singled twice.

Bears defeated by WarHawks, Ephs in Florida

Amy Ricci singled twice and drove in three runs to pace the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to a 4-2 victory over SUNY Potsdam in the Dot Richardson Softball Tournament on Sunday morning in Clermont, Fla.

Samie Seamon doubled and singled for the Warhawks (4-1). Katie Marshman doubled in two runs in the top of the third inning for the Bears (0-5).

Later in the day, Taylor Donze singled twice and drove in three runs as Williams College posted a 5-2 win over SUNY Potsdam.

Alison Michalik, Kacey Cramer and Priscilla Pino each doubled and singled for Williams (3-1). Alexis Lerman doubled and singled for the Bears (0-6).

n Skidmore downed St. Lawrence, 8-1, in a Liberty League men’s tennis match in Saratoga Springs. Rob Schmitz won for the Saints (6-5, 0-2) at No. 3 singles over Gabe Steerman of the Thoroughbreds (5-4, 3-0).
