ALBANY Former St. Lawrence mens hockey player Greg Carey was named ECAC co-player of the year along with Union defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere on Friday.
Carey, a two-time ECAC scoring champion and first-team all-league selection, became the seventh Saint player to earn ECAC Player of the Year honors. Carey is the first player in school history to lead the team in scoring in four consecutive seasons.
SLU defenseman Gavin Bayreuther shared ECAC co-rookie of the year honors with Quinnipiac forward Sam Anas. Bayreuther was also named to the league second team and all-rookie team. Bayreuther led all ECAC defensemen in scoring in his rookie season.
Also joining Bayreuther on the all-rookie squad was former teammate Matt Carey and Clarkson defenseman James de Haas.
