PORT LEYDENAfter initially being stopped for speeding, Brandon R. DiCesare, 25, of Lyonsdale Road, Lyons Falls, reportedly led Lewis County sheriffs deputies on a short pursuit and allegedly was discovered to have had marijuana and a spring-actuated knife in his vehicle.
The alleged incident occurred at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday on Route 12 in the town of Leyden.
When he was finally apprehended, Mr. DiCesare was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and circumventing an ignition interlock device, all misdemeanors. He additionally was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and several vehicle and traffic infractions.
Because of a February 2012 guilty plea to second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child after Mr. DiCesare punched a 16-year-old boy in the head in June 2011, the weapons charge was in the third degree.
He was processed at the Lewis County Public Safety Building, Lowville, and arraigned in Lowville Village Court. He was then sent to the Lewis County jail, Lowville, on $15,000 cash bail.
The sheriffs office said more charges could be forthcoming.
