City police arrested Mary C. Campbell, 33, of 218 Ward St., after she allegedly received improper welfare benefits.
According to police, the incident dates back to May 13.
She was arrested at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps, all felonies.
Police did not state the amount of illicit benefits Ms. Campbell allegedly received. Third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud are charged when the value of fraudulent benefits exceeds $3,000.
She was held at the jail pending arraignment in City Court.
