HAMILTON — Darcy Murphy scored three goals and assisted on another as Colgate University defeated St. Lawrence University, 4-3, on Saturday to win both Game 2 and an ECAC Hockey playoff quarterfinal series at Starr Rink.

Goalie Charlie Finn stopped 23 of 25 shots for the 17th-ranked and second-seeded Raiders (19-12-5) who advance to the league’s championship weekend in Lake Placid, where they’ll face third-seeded Quinnipiac in Friday’s semifinal.

Greg Carey scored two goals for the eighth-seeded Saints (15-19-4), including a tally with 3:14 remaining to pull St. Lawrence within 4-3.

Joe Wilson contributed a goal and two assists for Colgate, which avenged a first-round series loss to St. Lawrence last season.

Matt Weninger finished with 20 saves for the Saints, who were swept in a quarterfinal playoff series on the road for the second consecutive season.
