Clarkson cancels Pi Day activities

■ POTSDAM — Clarkson University’s Pi Day activities for middle- and high-school students scheduled for today have been canceled due to the winter storm warning.

n The Watertown Urban Mission will host a ground-breaking ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday in the agency’s Impossible Dream Thrift Store, 247 Factory St., to mark the start of construction, following the success of its recent capital campaign. The agency exceeded its $2 million goal.

n The Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, 2031 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek, will host a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at 4:30 on Saturday. Ham, cabbage, potatoes, dessert and beverages will be served. Donations will be accepted to benefit the church’s Mission Fund.
