POTSDAM — Tanner Pratt fired in six goals as the SUNY Canton men’s lacrosse team defeated Alfred State, 16-11, in a nonconference game at Clarkson University on Sunday.

Jason Thompson, Chris Gamble and Jack Keenan each netted three goals for the Kangaroos (1-1).

Andrew Delligati tallied three goals for the Pioneers (0-4).

BASEBALL

ELMS 4-2, ST. LAWRENCE 0-18

Chris Fernandez doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as the Saints took the nightcap to split a doubleheader with the Blazers (2-2) in Fort Myers, Fla.

John Ainsley belted a three-run triple for St. Lawrence (2-1).

Curtis Lebeau tossed a shutout in the opener for Elms (Mass.).

PITTSBURGH-BRADFORD 9-15, SUNY CANTON 3-8

Sam Gardner clubbed a grand slam in game one as the Panthers swept the Kangaroos in a nonconference doubleheader at Monroe, N.C.

SUNY Canton (0-2) raced out to a 3-0 lead in game two, but Pittsburgh-Bradford (4-1) scored seven runs in the top of the third inning.

SOFTBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 5, WPI 3

Alisha O’Connor ripped a two-run double in the fourth inning as the Saints defeated the Engineers in a nonconference game at Clermont, Fla.

Kyle Plimpton struck out 12 for St. Lawrence (1-2), which bounced back after losing a pair of games on Saturday.

Juliana Fekete supplied two hits for Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1-1).

SUNY CANTON LOSES TWO

Meghan Hisgen drove in five runs as Gettysburg routed SUNY Canton, 13-5, for a season-opening win in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Bullets (1-0) scored in all six innings, while the Kangaroos (0-2) scored all five runs in the fifth.

SUNY Canton lost earlier in the day to Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 2-1.

MEN’S TENNIS

ST. LAWRENCE 6, COLBY-SAWYER 3

The Saints’ three doubles pairings swept their matches as they started the Florida trip with a nonconference win over the Chargers in Kissimmee.

Paul Barrett and John Megas also won their singles matches for St. Lawrence (4-0).
