CRIMINAL POSSESSION MARIJUANA - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Daniel Menard, 24, of LIle Perrot, Que., with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers allegedly found he was in possession of four pounds of marijuana at 7:59 p.m. Saturday during a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - NORTH LAWRENCE - Massena-based state police charged Kenneth J. Snyder, 34, of Fort Jackson with second-degree criminal contempt after responding to a complaint at 3:25 p.m. Saturday from the town of Lawrence.
DWI - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Trevor H. James, 42, of Parishville with driving while intoxicated, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana and ticketed him for operation of a vehicle with inadequate plate lamps and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway following a traffic stop at 11:30 p.m. Saturday on state Route 420 in the town of Norfolk.
ANIMAL CRUELTY - MADRID - Massena-based state police charged Stephen A. Westurn, 42, of Madrid with 28 counts of torturing/injuring/not feeding animals Saturday following an investigation into an animal cruelty complaint filed with troopers at 1:45 p.m. Friday from the town of Madrid.
FELONY DWI - LISBON - Ogdensburg-based state police charged Ronald E. Self, 33, of Ogdensburg with a felony count of driving while intoxicated - previous conviction within past 10 years and ticketed him for failure to keep right, operation of a vehicle with an inadequate exhaust and driving on the shoulders following a traffic stop at 3:26 a.m. Sunday on County Route 28 in the town of Lisbon.
DWI - LISBON - Ogdensburg-based state police charged Justin D. Putney, 22, of Lisbon with driving while intoxicated and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and ticketed him for making an unsafe lane change, failure to keep right and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway following a stop at 6:45 p.m. Saturday on County Route 28 in the town of Lisbon.
PETIT LARCENY - WATERTOWN - Watertown-based state police charged Alicia C. Trudell, 25, of Canton with petit larceny after responding to a shoplifting complaint at 2:58 p.m. Saturday in the town of Watertown.
