Police: Rome man called woman 44 times in 12 hours

LOWVILLE — State police arrested Stephen J. Legatta, 54, Rome, at 10:57 a.m. Thursday on counts of first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, and second-degree aggravated harassment.

Police said Mr. Legatta called Lori A. Legatta, last known address 5159 Osceola Road, West Leyden, 44 times in 12 hours on Sunday. The alleged harassment violated an order of protection issued by Lewis County Court protecting her from Mr. Legatta. In December, he was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal contempt after allegedly sending text messages to Ms. Legatta, despite an order of protection barring him from doing so.

He is to answer the charges in Village Court.
