Watertown set another record-low temperature this morning, when readings at Watertown International Airport dipped to minus 21 degrees.

This ”shatters” the previous record cold for March 6 of minus 9 set in 2003, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather is supposed to warm up today and Friday, however, with highs reaching up to the mid-20s this afternoon and temperatures climbing into the upper-30s on Friday.

Earlier this winter, temperatures plunged down to minus 37 degrees at the airport on Jan. 22 — the coldest for that date and also the third lowest temperature ever recorded in Watertown.
