GOUVERNEUR — The administrative hearing for suspended village police officer Steven M. Young has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. March 21.

The hearing, originally set for Jan. 31, had to be rescheduled because Mr. Young’s original attorney, James R. McGraw, Syracuse, died.

The village Board of Trustees suspended Mr. Young without pay, effective Dec. 30. He had been suspended with pay since September while state police conducted an investigation into whether Mr. Young, who is also chief of the Gouverneur Fire Department, inappropriately used village gasoline.

Criminal charges have not been filed against him. The village went ahead with administrative charges and scheduled the Civil Service hearing.
