SARANAC LAKE — State police were waiting when a bus carrying a Winthrop man pulled into its station Tuesday so they could arrest him on a bench warrant from St. Lawrence County Court after he failed to appear for sentencing.

At approximately 11 a.m., troopers said, they received information that Raymond R. Trimm, 27, of 220 Converse Road, was on a Trailways bus that was to arrive in the village. He was arrested when the bus stopped near the Fusion Market at 111 River St.

Mr. Trimm was allegedly found in possession of Suboxone and a hypodermic needle.

Troopers charged him with second-degree criminal contempt, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and a public health law violation, possession of a controlled substance outside its original container.

Mr. Trimm was supposed to appear in County Court on Tuesday to be sentenced for felony third-degree intimidating a victim or witness.

His attorney, Edward F. Narrow, told County Judge Jerome J. Richards that he had been unable to reach Mr. Trimm, but that his client was made aware of his court date.

Judge Richards issued the warrant from the bench.

Mr. Trimm was arraigned at the North Elba Town Court and returned to County Court Wednesday morning on that warrant.

Judge Richards sent Mr. Trimm to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail.

State Police were assisted by the Saranac Lake Police Department.
