UTICA — Gabrielle Schnepp’s hat trick helped the Utica College women’s hockey team beat SUNY Potsdam, 6-4, in the ECAC West regular-season finale for both teams.

Vanessa Maines chipped in with a goal and two assists for the Pioneers (16-8-1, 9-6-1), who will host the Bears on Saturday in an ECAC West first-round game. Twin sisters Brittany and Amanda Lucky each tallied a goal and an assist for SUNY Potsdam (12-9-4, 7-5-4).

n The Clarkson men’s and women’s Alpine skiing teams clinched a spot in the USCSA nationals after strong showings in Eastern regionals at Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. The men won the giant slalom event, while the women placed seventh in the slalom. The nationals are March 11-15 at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid.

n Four St. Lawrence women’s tennis players won both their singles and doubles matches as the Saints opened their spring season with a 7-2 nonconference win over St. Michael’s, Vt., in Canton. Elkie Vandenbeemt, Olivia Arroyo, Georgia Comber and Anna Young each swept their matches.

n Bowdoin edged St. Lawrence, 5-4, in the College Squash Association Walker Cup by winning four straight matches. Jill Baker, Parker Benedict and Emily Terry all won their matches in straight sets. The Saints finished 20th in the competition.
